Today’s Shout Out – Tiniroto Station, Gisborne

Rob and Karen Newman know their stuff—they were named Gisborne-Wairoa Farmer of the Year in 2014 and run a robust operation with a 700ha breeding block plus a finishing farm 40 minutes out of Gisborne. In addition to the information sharing requirements needed between themselves and their Stock Manager, they also deal with large volumes of trade lambs and R2 bulls, which means plenty of stock classes to keep a handle on.

Rob and Karen have always understood the benefits of using technology on farm. Before moving to Cloud Farmer they tried two alternative farm recording apps, but neither were suitable. Finding a technology solution that met their needs proved to be a bit of a learning experience. One of the biggest challenges they needed technology to solve was how keep track of up to 20 mobs of bulls in a cell grazing system. With other systems they couldn’t follow the individual mobs through or see when they were last drenched without upgrading their subscription, which was going to cost significantly more. “I just want something simple that I can actually use. Having to pay three times more was a bitter pill to swallow” says Rob.

Here at Cloud Farmer we’re chuffed to report that the ability to easily customise Cloud Farmer means Rob and Karen now have a system that meets their needs, provides real value to their operation and gets used daily. Rob and Karen it’s great to have you on board and we’re glad we ended up being the solution you needed!
